Lovejoy currently calls Sedona, AZ home. An artist of only 29 years old, she just finished constructing her biggest painting to date. Four hundred square feet of public space in uptown Sedona lay claim to Lovejoy’s style. She unveiled this commission to the City of Sedona in the fall of 2009. This is her first public work of art.
Lovejoy paints a wide variety of subjects yet has a distinct style that makes her portfolio unique. Her brush strokes are as bold as her color choices, exploding with emotion; The high saturation of color, distinct in their emotional intentions. Lovejoy demonstrates a knack for effectively using color to play with the eye of the beholder. You can’t help but explore her works from various angles and distances. Her impressionistic brush strokes hold your focus not only visually, but mentally and emotionally. Each of her creations emits a feeling that every human is capable of understanding; that this creation was made with love.
An artist true to her name as she tells me how much joy she has in her life. Living in Sedona, AZ she is surrounded by blue skies, red rock sculptures, and at night a blanket of stars. Lovejoy has a hiking story or two about a lot of the mountains in Sedona, most of them including her avid hiking companion, Gyia, her dog. Lovejoy arrived to Sedona 5 years ago with a broken down car, and broke after graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design, and an 8 week cross country road trip. She immediately found a job, and an apartment; thus commencing the start of her goal of making her living as an artist. Learning something new everyday, Lovejoy has worked her way toward that goal. Living her dream, she is grateful to have found her passion and live her life with a smile on her face.
Lovejoy is her family name, her last name. She started introducing her self exclusively by her last name when she went to college, in Savannah, GA. Lovejoy likes the smile that spreads across everyone’s face who says her name. And who is going to forget a name like Lovejoy? It is a name that suits the artist well.
